Veteran actor & broadcaster Adebayo Faleti dies at 86

Renowned Nigerian author, broadcaster and poet, Adebayo Faleti,  is dead.

A report from Channels TV  states that Faleti died in the early hours of Sunday morning at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

The legend holds the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and is known for being responsible for translating Nigeria’s National Anthem from English to Yoruba.

Faleti, was one of the pioneer staff of the first television station in Africa, Western Nigeria Television (WNTV)  and published a dictionary containing the formal or official use of Yoruba names, .

He starred in Tunde Kelani‘s Thunderbold and Saworoide.
