Messi handed Four Games ban by FIFA over Abuse on Match Official

Five-times Ballon D’or winner Lionel Messi, has been hit with a four-game ban after football’s governing body FIFA confirmed his involvement in a verbal abuse against a match official in a World Cup qualifying game against Chile on March 24.

The Argentina and Barcelona star was accused of verbally abusing a match official and is reported to have said, “f*** off, your mother’s a c***.”  This prompted FIFA to hand the prolific attacker a four game ban and having him fined £8,100.

The attacker who scored the only goal of the game- from the penalty spot- vs Chile, was angered after being flagged for a foul and in return waved his arms, and sent a volley of verbal abuse against the referee’s assistant.

The ban means Argentina will be without their star-man as the  29-year-old will miss out his country’s crucial World Cup qualifying clash with Bolivia having learned his fate, and also games against Uruguay, Paraguay and Venezuela.
