Dan-Ali to Represent Buhari at the Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship in Sambisa Forest

The Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has made it open that  President Muhammadu Buhari who is to open the 2017 Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship scheduled to take place in Sambisa Forest, will now be represented by the Hon. Minister of defense, Alhaji Mansur Dan-Ali.

He announces this on Saturday while speaking to newsmen on the final arrangements for the event in Maiduguri.

According to him, this year’s edition is scheduled to hold in Sambisa forest so as to consolidate the Army’s grip on the area notorious for being a safe haven for Boko-Haram insurgents.

He said, “We have been in the North East, fighting the Boko-Haram terrorists, and you know the significance of the Sambisa forest to them.”

“It used to be one of their centres; in fact, we suspect that their command and control centre was located there before its eventual capture,’’ the Chief of Army Staff said.

He also added that following the eventual capture of camp Zairo, the Army decided to consolidate its operations by ensuring that is secured the area through the maintenance of a total dominance of the area.

The championship is part of the training activities of the Nigerian Army which is aimed at improving the marksmanship of its personnel.
